My latest show on Rock History Spotlight was another fascinating topic and we thank 2 authors Rob Bowman and Richie Unterberger for coming on.

Next topic for this Thursday, March 19th will be on Sounds of the 60s as we’re going all-in on the music of the 1960s, one of the most exciting and influential decades in rock and pop history.

We’ll play music from the artists who helped define the era while exploring two fascinating chapters of rock history — the legendary recording scene of Muscle Shoals, Alabama and the rise of the folk-rock revolution.
Muscle Shoals became one of the most influential recording centers in American music, where soul, rock, and country came together to create unforgettable records.
We’ll also explore the evolution of folk-rock and the experimental edge of bands like the Velvet Underground, whose sound pushed rock music into new territory.

With 2 guests we're welcoming are:
Rob Bowman, a Canadian author and music historian discussing his acclaimed book Land of A Thousand Sessions: The Complete Muscle Shoals Story 1951-1985.
The book explores the legendary Muscle Shoals, Alabama music scene and its enormous impact on soul, rock, and country music.
Through interviews with more than 100 key figures and extensive archival research, Rob documents how this small Alabama town became one of the most important recording centers in music history.

Richie Unterberger, an Author and journalist known for his deep research into popular music history. Richie will discuss several of his books including:
Turn! Turn! Turn!: The ’60s Folk-Rock Revolution,
Eight Miles High: Folk-Rock’s Flight from Haight-Ashbury to Woodstock,
Won’t Get Fooled Again: The Who from Lifehouse to Quadrophenia.
We’ll also focus on his book Do What You Fear Most: The History of the Velvet Underground, exploring the groundbreaking influence of the band on alternative and experimental rock.
